The game has a bunch of different areas and after the first three it sharply turns brutally difficult and introduces the two FOE varieties. Normal encounters risk gameover if you don't know how to handle them due to massive enemy HP, status effects, and skills that OHKO party members if they aren't properly shielded by a guard or water shield.
