It's not only my favorite 2hu game, it's my favorite fighting game,period.
If I had to point to the biggest flaw, it'd have to be the weather system, it HAS a pattern, and you CAN alter it, but it gets too frantic at times and its very confusing to figure out mid match, some weathers are fine, but others fuck up with the fight just too much.
I think hemogurobin should do the art for touhou games.

I don't think there's another fighting game that has grazing like soku does, and flight with as much control or more control as soku doesn't exist outside of Marvel games.
It's not exactly what you're asking for but I've found a lot of soku fans enjoy playing Melty if you want to try that out. Characters are pretty mobile although there's less focus on projectiles for most characters.

Cards aren't everyones cup of tea, the fact that you can't change your special moves pre-match means that some characters are doomed to languish on the tier list due to not having reliable access to their best options.
I really like the limit system, even if its a bit arbitrary. And the character balance is decent, last I heard there's nobody in god tier.

There have been mods to remove weather, but comparing weather to items is a bad comparison. Items are completely random where as weather isn't. Also items heavily favor fast, mobile characters who tend to be high tier where as weather is more specific to who it favors.
I can understand not liking cards, but I think it's a neat form of customization and it's hard to find two players with the same deck unless if people are flat out copying other players. I agree that it would be better if you could pick which special move to start with though.

I know the weather has a pattern and you can "control" it, but it'll change so much while both players are just fighting that it barely even matters what you try to do to influence it. I know that I can change it via knockdown for instance, but it's not like I'm going to be fighting with the intent of scoring a knockdown at the right time to get the weather I want. I can't always assume I can get free hits on my opponent out of nowhere for the sole purpose of changing the weather to typhoon.
And it's not like I want to waste cards in my deck just to use that shitty weather card.

Are you honestly telling me I can realistically expect to get the weather I want when I want it? Every now and then I might notice the weather I want is next and use a spell to make sure I get it, but situations like that are just gonna come up randomly. No one actually spends the entire match watching the timer and only fights seriously when they think they can get the right weather. You're going to be busy fighting your opponent, and it's not like you can orchestrate the battle to always end up with you getting favorable weather. It's random when you're going to be able to actually use the weather the way you want it.

You're half wrong and half right. Players should always be paying attention to the timer because otherwise you can get a really bad weather. The thing is that playing in a way to force a specific weather is typically not worth it, since you'll be going out of your way to control the weather for a typically small benefit compared to just potentially getting a combo on your opponent. You need to be able to determine if going out of your way to change the weather is worth it compared to just playing normally, which can happen but is not all the time. When those situations DO come up you can either almost always do something unless if your opponent forces what you don't want, but then they're going out of their way to do that too and have to determine if it's worth it.
There's only like 3 weathers that can really fuck you over, everything else is just a minor modifier. As long as you can prepare/avoid them the weather system isn't that terrible, some people get unreasonably angry about it.
