Has there ever been a game so dead?
I'm not trying to rub it in or anything, it just breaks my heart. I've put a lot of hours in to this once beautiful game, but making fanart official is just one bad move you can't recover from. Between that and the army of clones that have dropped recently (Battleborn, Overwatch, whatever that other one was called) I just don't see myself visiting New Mexico again any time soon.
I miss those long nights on Hydro, Gravel Pit, Granary, Dustbowl, 2fort and Well. I miss when this game felt gritty. When they had respect for the art of Leyendecker and Rockwell that inspired them.
I miss a lot of you guys that I'd play with on the fighting amphibians servers. Tique before it was nothing but huge faggots. Hell I even miss Mariokart and 2fort2furious.
I really miss TF2.
People really need to gain some perspective on what a 'dead game' is
I play tf2 every day and it takes me less than 30 seconds to find a nearly full attack/defense server
Another game I try to play every day (note: try) is DEFCON by introversion. It's an RTS about nuclear war that came out in 2007, I estimate there are about 30-40 people who still play it- I know this because they're all ok my friends list. When a community gets that small you have no choice but to get close. And all of them are old- jobs, families mortgages etc. not easy to get everyone together
Depending on the day of the week and time of day you'll probably find one other person on to do a 1v1. If you're lucky you MIGHT find 3 other players who aren't noobs to 2v2. A 3v3 or diplomacy game is ONLY possible on Friday or Saturday nights.

Valve pushed back the release of the summer update so they wouldn't have to compete with Overwatch's release. The update is still on the way. https://twitter.com/4G_b4nny/status/729824004215689217And I sure hope it brings Scout/Soldier/Medic unlock nerfs, and Pyro/Spy stock buffs.
Next update for TF2 is going to be "neato" according to valve employee.
