Nintendo set up a system on Youtube that automatically monetizes anything of theirs and sends a chunk of profits their way.
As an LPer, this means you get even less money because Youtube takes a chunk too, which basically gave non-shills a reason to dislike Nintendo.

Nintendo can spin their games however they want but the truth of the matter is e-celebs and youtubers like ProJared are the people mouthbreathers look to if they want to know to buy the game or not after release.
If you are a developer/publisher trying to sell a game you would be stupid not to throw money and take advantage of these people.

This is going to sound really apologetic or fanboyish or something and I'm not familiar with the YouTubers in question but I feel I understand why Nintendo are doing this.
I think Nintendo realized some years ago that e3 was becoming very corporate and that the idea of some middle-aged CEO pointing to a graph wasn't engaging to gamers, especially the sort of gamers who play Nintendo games.
The treehouses have been an answer to that and they work well because they're not there to cram sales data into your face in a short period of time. But rather than just be e3 outside of e3, they're trying to reach out to the gaming community by putting e-Celebs in charge of minor presenting roles.
Think about it, it's either show a familiar face proven to be liked and eager to please or gamble on an unknown presenter and hope the fans don't take enough of a disliking to them to hate the product. Nintendo probably know that in order to not come across as 'HOW ARE YOU DOING, FELLOW KIDS' they need to just outsource the job to people who will put themselves in the limelight for free.
Which is fascinating, considering they pretty much fucked everyone who wants to upload footage with their games in it on youtube.
