I hope Breath of The Wild will have as many memorable tracks as the older Zeldas. What's your favourite music from the series?
Pic related, I can still hear it in my head.
Spirit Temple does it for me.

Aonuma said on the stream that they aren't going to have a strong music focus because there isn't set areas where music can be predicted. There's going to be more focus on atmospheric noise in the background. You'll probably have a few places where music plays (finding a new area, first entering a temple, cutscene in town, etc). But it won't be like past Zelda games.
But considering the last half dozen Zelda games, which were linear as fuck and still had forgettable music, I don't think we're missing much. We weren't going to have music on the level of Awakening or Ocarina even if the game was completely linear.

Why do people think oot had good music when later titles did so much better in that regard?
>>341596520
I was 13 when this came out. It was the last time I was younger than Link at the time a game released. Fuck my life.

MEMES aside, this is the only thing I'm worried about. I do like the boopy little piano music for the ruined Temple of Time, but I hope for towns or Death Mountain we get stronger melodies like the series is known for.

I'm 30 years old. I beat Zelda before half the people ITT was born. Zelda has NEVER had strong melodies. Contemporaries on the NES and SNES destroyed it, and the 3D OSTs put me to sleep, ALL of them.

The original Zelda Overworld theme is one of the most iconic video game themes of all time. Hell, the whole series if full of incredibly iconic tunes, the fuck are you talking about?
>>341596520
I really disliked the music in the trailer. Chinese strings is like nails on chalkboard to me.
From what I understand this game handles it's music like Minecraft does, the game will mostly just be ambient sounds but every so often a melody will kick in and create some atmospheric moments. This kind of fixes the problem of repetitive songs in the overworld, but it also creates an atmosphere at the same time.

It's a weak point on a game I'm otherwise looking forward to.
I'll probably get used to it, but if bosses don't have cool music, especially plot important ones, I'll still be pretty disappointed.
>>341596520
The shrines have really good ambient tracks and the boss theme is great. I hope the rest of the soundtrack is good.

I always loved the dramatic power of this tune. The shift in melody toward the tail end of it always stuck with me as emblematic of our hero's struggle--beat down, but always climbing back up.
The LBW version satisfied my nostalgia perfectly.

How much would you shit yourself if you step into a dungeon and it starts off all soundscapes but builds in a orchestrated, expanded version of the Zelda original labyrinth theme?

If the composer is Hajime Wakai again, we're not missing much.
>>341603729
On first listen, Matt MVS can come across as too eccentric, too noisy, and too disconnected for the casual listener. But with each revisiting, a new layer of the noise seems to click into place, and what’s left at the heart is an eclectic and often somber collection of Americana at its best: honest, open, fragile, shaky, and burdened with an indefinable sadness that tinges even its most upbeat moments. There is not a moment of his work that is not transcendental and otherworldly. Its scope is breathtaking, its noise is sublimely tranquil, and its soul is deeply rooted in the American music tradition, even at its most violent and experimental. In short, Matt MVS is a flawless, all-encompassing composer, and a new high-water mark for what art is capable of. He is an artist that pushes the capabilities of recorded sound in completely new and unexplored directions, destined to become a legend.

Because Nintendo fell for the open world meme it will have generic ambient music, because if you play a normal track on loop that much it drives you crazy.
>no Majora's mask tracks

I really don't like the lack of over world music in the new Zelda. It wouldn't have been repetitive for me. Just a dumb excuse. If they were that worried about it they could have just had an option to turn it off.

Because Aonuma says they're trying to to basically a good version of Skyward Sword with this game
So they're keeping the art direction and themes the same
A shame, because I really wanted highly melodic SNES style music

>Skyward Sword's soundtrack was so forgettable.
Nice meme.
God please let Ryo Nagamatsu work on this game. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite current Nintendo composers, and I'm not even talking about his perfect remasters of the old Link to the Past tracks. His own compositions are great, both Link Between Worlds and Tri Force Heroes have some absolute gems.
