Nvidia doesn't have a card announced that will compete with the 480 in the price range. If you're building a thousand dollar PC sure go with a 1070, but otherwise you won't do better than a 480 for a smaller budget.
When they release the 1060 it may compete but we don't know yet, I very much doubt it since nvidias last line of more budget oriented cards were shit.
