What went wrong? Is there a bigger blunder in recent memory?

>people are complaining you can't group with friends nor communicate in Dead By Daylight
>these same people didn't buy Evolve
Lol
Is submit Destiny.
All my console friends were stoked as fuck for it, thought it to be something out of a Chris Roberts dream universe.
Turned out to be Halo/warframe

Evolve would have been fine as a f2p game which the devs intended it to be. But 2k forced it to be full price.

>destiny
>blunder
even if its shit, over $500 million dollars in preorders alone isnt a blunder
>>341594239
>What went wrong?
Nothing really. Hype up expensive multiplayer game -> Lots of people buy it -> game is shit so people leave -> take down servers, so you dont have to pay for them
It made crapton of $$$, which is the only thing devs/publisher cares about
>is there a bigger blunder in recent memory?
no

The problem is it's a 60 dollar game where playing with friends is always required. 240 dollars to play the game properly.
>>341594817
Fair enough, didn't it cost them 500mil to develop though?
>>341594406
>everquest next
still hurts with the promise of good AI. Singleplayer games suck now after playing tons of MP, everything is predictable patterns.
>>341594239
>bad/no matchmaking
>full price + gameplay altering micro-transactions
>devs ignore critique and just double down on all the bad design decisions
>taking one element from L4D and making a full game for it.
>>341595058
>didn't it cost them 500mil to develop though?
nah, it will cost 500mil for the 10 years of content theyre planning.
probably 100 on the game and 400 on marketing
>>341595094
i was hyped until they showed actual gameplay, some of the features sounded neat but the game just screamed failure. wonder how all the backers and people who bought landmark feel
>>341594925
>playing with friends is always required
if you're a helpless scrub sure
Nosgoth was a real weird project, but kinda fun, never left beta.
>>341595058
Still has a pretty big community. It's just not the next CoD like Activision wanted.
>>341594239
>Is there a bigger blunder in recent memory?
Yeah, actually.
