No, fuck stick. WW1 in 1918 was pretty mobile, essentially proto-WW2 stuff. I can appreciate why DICE wanted to set it then, because otherwise they'd just be making Verdun and someone already did that. So that's fine. And all the automatic weaponry, while pretty unrealistic in its availability, is fine too, because it'd get a bit dull just using the same bolt-action rifles for everyone all the time. So what we should get is proto-WW2 combat, lots of artillery, some antiquated stuff that looks funny, hooray it's WW1.

DICE has stated that they wanted to go a different direction with this game which is why Italy and Austria-Hungary are the other theater besides Brits and Germans. The game will eventually have every major nation involved in the war as a multiplayer faction so it isn't like they lied. Last, BF1 isn't going to be like BF2 or 1942 where major factions had their own separate vehicles and kits so the only thing that changes is flavor text and character model. They were literally wet all the time. Getting fungus infections on their feet while they couldn't take off their boots for days. I think my problem with all this is how everyone tries to downplay videogames as a legit form of media. They don't understand that kids (and let's face it millions of kids will be playing) are more likely to play a game than read a book, so anything that bills itself as being historical they may accept as fact. And I don't know how schools are, but for me WW1 was always glossed over in favor of WW2 because we had more presence there and it was likely that we knew someone that was in it.

Fact is, we get taught about WW1 for about one day. It's pretty disgusting how it just gets glossed over. Archduke Ferdinand being killed is basically the only thing we learn about, maybe a mention of Verdun and the Christmas armastice. It's sad, really. WW2, on the other hand, gets months of coverage. Hell, in 8th grade my class spent pretty much an entire semester learning about WW2, including a trip to the holocaust museum in D.C. Our schools just love teaching WW2 for some reason.

The game looks just like BF4 or 3 (or even Hardline): Semi-big map with retarded capture point locations that make the game into FFA deathmatch after the first 2 minutes, where you can expect enemies everywhere, regardless of their spawn positions. I'm more than sure they will follow the same path of content bloat and have like several weapons that do absolutely the same. Just like with laser sights in BF4, everyone will be having some retarded attachment with no limit whatsoever. I really hope they will somehow limit the squad spawn system, because it's fucking awful in the BF3/4. The only kinda interesting thing they did is limiting the vehicle play and making multi-player vehicles more prominent: most of the BF4 maps are absolutely awful because they offer non-existent infantry play compared to vehicles: you have to camp and stay on point or pretty much dying if you want to move forward, because the maps have ridiculous stretches of fucking nothingness. Fuck firestorm, fuck transmission, fuck whiteout, fuck karelia, fuck silk road, fuck railway, fuck island maps, fuck resort, fuck dam. It doesn't mean that every map should be cramped TDM shit, like Lockers or Metro, but there's a number of maps, like Zavod, Dawnbreaker or Propaganda that do the combination of infantry and vehicle play right.
