This is actually pretty bad. Not just for the simple fact that you have to wait longer for something, but because it looks to be a relatively simple game, so having to wait too long for it will in all likelyhood make it feel disappointing and not worth the wait when it finally comes.

The boring part of Black Flag was the stealth sections and the main story missions.
This has neither, it's all about exploration and naval combat - e.g. the best parts.

Greg Mayles said that there's going to be mechanics like your ship not being able to carry as much treasure as you want during a raid since your ship space is limited. So you have to go out, bury it on a beach, mark it on your map then come back for it on another run. But other players can steal it in the mean time if they steal your map.
Also they had a mechanic in the early versions where you could cause suspicion in the crew that someone is stealing your treasure and make them walk the plank but the playtesters were abusing it (Apparently they had a bunch of MS execs try it and secretly filmed them. They were conspiring all the time and eventually threw each other off the boat and made one of them walk the plank) so they are re-working it.
So far it's sounding like Destiny with Pirates. Except actually fun.
