Look at this one I made. I call him The Red Prince. His clothing is actually white, but it's stained with the blood of his enemies. He's often made fun off for having a blue face, but those bouts of mockery never end well for scoffers.
Oh and just so you know, he's not really a Prince. You'll find out more about his back story when you play the game he's featured in. The game is called Time Sword: Dragon's Revenge, keep an eye out for it on Steam Greenlight.

Not really, you just pick a few colors that'll be part of the cycling, and you use them to draw on the same picture the various frames of the animation with those colors you picked. There's nothing really special about the technique itself, every guy in charge of the graphics worth a damn knew how to do that shit back in the late 80s.

I'm currently working on my own point and click adventure game on AGS, but drawing the character sprites is pain in the ass. Especially when I have hard time drawing the walking animations etc. so that they won't look like shit.
