I haven't played a Kingdom Hearts game since 2 came out on the PS2
How the hell does one catch up to the story now and in which order should you play all the games now?

Get 1.5 and 2.5 on PS3, play in RELEASE ORDER, even though Days in the 1.5 you should play it after 2.
Then wait for 2.8 and play that.

Kh 1, KH 2, RE:COM, BBS then DDD or wait for 2,8 to play DDD on PS4.
If you buy 1.5 and 2.5 for PS3 you have basically everything you need to be caught up besides 2.8 this December

Actually a better reason is that birth by sleep came out Jan 9 2010 and the ending makes more sense if you've played it
Also you'd most undoubtedly be playing re:coded which has bbs scenes in the intro
