Konami was immensely downsizing it's AAA game production in favor for cheaper phones games and pachinko machines. Aside from MGSV, try to name one game off the top of your head they released in the past couple of years.
Kojima wanted to keep doing big games. Japanese companies don't traditionally fire people, they just pull extremely passive-aggressive tactics onto people they want to leave until they eventually do just do that out of frustration. Which is what happened with Kojima and his team, as funding got cut big time halfway in, and Silent Hills was publically closed down.
Kojima was acting vice president or something, so the rest of the higher ups just wanted him out so they can make easier money, PR be damned.
That awful feel when we will never get that last MGS chapter. Konamk will probably release a trailer tease which turns out to be yet another Panchinko then theh laugh at evryone.
Kojima turned MGS5's development into a financial nightmare for Konami and they probably thought he'd do the same with Silent Hills. Case closed.
There is no big conspiracy, no secret vendetta against Kojima, no secret plot to ruin him. He blew up MGS5's budget and was probably incredibly difficult to work with, Konami wants to focus on mobile games and pachinko stuff as it is, and they probably thought he was more trouble than he was worth.
Funny enough the Japanese governemnt are working to make laws to make mobile gaming less gatcha focused in japan and are also trying to make pachinko less profitable for people.
So Konami will come crawling back to big name vidya in two years or so.

Konami doesn't care about entertaining you or making art, they care about making money. That's what a company does. Mobile gaming is INCREDIBLY lucrative in Japan since they're commuting everywhere, and slot machines will always be profitable.
AAA titles are a whole different affair, and with the way they are now, Konami just can't compete with the other big names in the industry. All of their IPs are either dead, poison to critics, or just not up to par with what consumers like these days. As shitty as it is to people who like their games, this is probably the soundest option for them if they want to make a shitload of money which, let's be real, they do.

Actually Hideo and Kojima had a falling out during the devolpment of silent hills, and although the relationship between kojima and the ceo of konami's ex-wife was related, many people aren't even aware that she filed for a divorce months before they even started the "affair". Also theres was a rumor going around that Hideo got in a physical fight with one of the designer during the devolpment of MGSV, but its never been confirmed, and it seemed like konami was trying to sweep the whole thing under the rug.

RE7 isn't even confirmed to be a real game yet.
Everything in the RE7 demo is from a 2015 VR demo of a game called "the kitchen". It's why there are ghosts n shit in an RE game.

Why don't we have a new Dino Crisis or Darkstalkers? Because Capcom knows that Resident Evil and Street Fighter have a broader demographic so they'll always print money. Why does Nintendo keep lazily rehashing Mario and Zelda? Because they'll always sell even if they're bad, unlike lesser IPs like Star Fox which are infinitely more risky.

He wasn't rushing MGSV because Konami was bullying him for PT. He was rushing it because he blew the budget Konami gave him on stupid bells and whistles like song rights and celeb voice acting and was behind schedule as a result. It's entirely his fault that V turned out the way it did.

Here's what happened. Kojima's wife started cheating on him, and hi was internally being harrased as Hideous Cuckjima, so he started his affair with Stefanie during the development of MGSV to get back at her. He refused to divorce as that would be highly dishonorable to his name. The whole scandal took a toll on the whole team, and development started to lack direction, after many delays Konami decided to call a cut and try to ship the game in whatever shape it was. At some point it seems Stef got pregnant, but decided to abort as it would otherwise ruin her modeling career. Kojima lost his wife, his company, his affair and his son. Fueled by this emotions he made his new company and the new game trailer we saw.

MGS games have always been expensive and this one was supposed to be the greatest of them all. The poor slavic indie team behind The Witcher 3 had a bigger budget than Kojima with his to-be magnum opus to one of the most successful vidya franchises to exist.
