you're gonna need to practice your tech. brush up on the "falcon-cancel," it'll do you wonders against marth
during a match, you have to press L+R+A+START simultaneously, then mash the start button for a few seconds, then switch your character to fox and start a new game

I spent a lot of time going to the club every week and never got better though, I really do think spending time actually practicing tech on your own ala laudandus or whatever makes more of a difference than getting bodied over and over. But M2K DID pull that off originally. It was part of what made him amazing back in the beginning. Either way I think all I'm doing really is practicing simple stuff like L cancelling and wavelanding over and over, trying to do that stuff at locals never made much improvement for me.

Eh I've played the game with real people enough, and what tended to kill me was people with better tech and/or attempting and failing to do tech midmatch. You can't exactly practice ledgedashing midmatch without expecting tragedy.

you should set realistic goals, though. perfect wavelanding before learning to ledgedash, and learn to ledgedash perfectly without fastfalling off the side before trying to speed it up. if you can't crack it in a few days, give yourself some time to reset

I'm already ledgdashing maybe 7 times out of ten or better, finally getting 20XX set up should help a lot, savestates really help for this tech in particular. I need to get better at shinefirefoxstalling at the edge (no idea what the tech is called but I know everyone does it). Also learning shine wavelands to hit ledges a bit above or to the side of you is neat...

don't do the shine before the fire fox if you're just doing a stall, it wastes invincibility, just do let go of ledge and double jump insta fire fox. You can do a quarter circle motion starting from away from the ledge and then go up for a tap jump and press b, look for the green circle when you grab ledge as a visual cue for when you let go of the ledge again, if you do it too early you'll do a tourney winner.

it's a hard thing to learn, one thing that can help is doing a bunch of money matches at the few tourneys you can go to with people of relatively close skill-level so you have a higher chance of having those crazy last game last stock situations where nerves really hit you. Hopefully you can go to more tourneys so you'll be able to get the real practice in, it sucks if you have a hard time with it, but once you learn how to control that shit it becomes so fun to have an intense set where your heart is going crazy and you are fully focused into the match.

Puff isn't that bad if you are Fox main. Can't really complain about a 6-4 matchup.(I honestly think it can reach 7-3 on yoshi's, Hbox is just that good. Like even on Dreamland you are still at disadvantage against fox as puff if they remember to use the gun correctly.)
