I really dislike the character design. They look like fashion models for an edgelord fashion magazine, I know that's a typical japanese thing but it will still bother me if I ever play this game.
I will probably always prefer parties that have a cast of characters like in Xenoblade Chronicles. Some FF games have this glorified Idol thing going on where the characters actually star in fashion magazines and are designed to attract teenage boys and girls with characters that look straight out of anti-acne commercials with their 5000 dollar suits and perfect facial shapes.
They have this tendency to make everything super pretty and it takes me out of the character interaction. As if you'd hire a bunch of models from a runway, put them together in a room and make them read lines. It looks dumb.

The battle system looks boring, although not as boring as most jrpgs to be fair. And the open world probably means the story won't be that good.
But if the game has a lot of interesting and pretty environments to explore it could be engaging basically just for that. Before E3 it didn't even look like it had that, but a couple of the new trailers look more promising.

With those games they seemed to just design battle systems that were complex enough in potential, but too easy to finagle. You could make them interesting if you were willing to put effort into utilizing them fully, but they were just too easy to set to auto-pilot and get bored.
Unfortunately this game pretty much looks the same. There could be an interesting and complex battle system there, but if you can just hold down one button and eventually win, then people will end up doing that and complaining about how boring it is.
They just seem to design combat systems that are only as fun as what you're willing to put into them.

I don't know what the final game is going to look like, but the textures in the platinum demo were really low res and kind of ruined the appeal of it.
They can't really do set pieces in an open world, so I wouldn't expect really stunning graphics. For that matter they can't really do a strong narrative in an open world either. Really doing open world is pretty weird for a franchise that is traditionally known for both of those two things.

The battle camera has stayed the same, I checked, the normal mode is zoomed out permanently now. Look at it all the screenshots in my picture are in normal walking zone.
The battle camera is untouched which is good but there has been a significant change. The normal default 3/4 camera is now completely gone
