no the point of killing organics was so they wouldn't make the same mistakes as the leviathans. They didn't want all life to always be gone from the galaxy. So they give races time to grow and expand and right when they reach too far the reapers come and reset it. They want to keep all life alive in the universe in a weird and twisted way. They simple don't want to just kill all life they are very hard if even possible to understand. That is why people say they are lovecraftaitn what ruins it though is being able to slaughter them with ease.
