It fucks with a few directx 9 libraries, breaking some older games.
Also messes with how non-unicode programs are handled. So if older games or programs you have require Japanese locale, you won't be able to run those. Also breaks applocale so no using that.

So what can you do? switch to linux? Have it on my laptop, I like it but it doesn't support most of my vidya and tools.
Otherwise I'd switch in a heartbeat. Wine is such a hassle to use since it doesn't support all titles.
Perhaps if Vulkan receives widespread support and linux isn't treated as a second class citizen when it comes to vidya.
Valve adding linux support sounded promising, I don't know if they are serious about it. Steam machines were such a flop, looks like xbox will sweep that console/PC hybrid market from under their feet.
