I fully realize Gen 1 is nothing but nostalgia, but it's my favorite. The mechanics of newer pokemon games were corrected (some of the issues anyways) and more content was added, but the original will always hold a special place in my vidya heart. The newer games are good, but I still prefer red/blue. I'm sure DIEHARD pokemon fans will disagree, but again, it's all nostalgia for me. I don't care much for the newer games because I don't care about pokemon anymore.

Generation 2 is when it started, but it didn't take over with generation 2. Even generation 3 have too many monsters with overly simplified or comical features. I think it fully took over with generation 5 evident by the starters base forms. Tepig is a literal copy of the pig from Ranma. Snivy is a banana with some eyes colored green and called a snake. And Oshawott looks like it barely escaped the concept stage for the pokemon. Like they said fuck it when drawing in the oval and circle to define its body and left it like that.

That makes for good neutral coverage, which means it will get at least 2x base damage on all but pic related on switches. If it gets access to a decent Fighting move, then it gets complete neutral coverage. Might be cool.

Diggersby is okay, but Huge Power is objectively better than Stakeout, don't you think? It doubles its Attack in all situations, rather than just on switches. Therefore, it can't redeem a bad stat spread as well as Huge Power does. Getting Earthquake as a STAB move also helps Diggersby a lot, and even then it's not stellar.
