It's pretty ok in the difficulty but it goes batshit in the moon, I even dare to say it was even worse than the Crystal Tower in 3, sure it was longer but the enemies weren't as strong and it also had no save points, I had to grind a shit ton to finally enjoy that dungeon.

Depends what you mean by hard. A game can be hard because it's unbalanced, because it's broken, because the controls are shitty/broken/unresponsive and the list goes on.

The Evil Within Akumu. Enemies are much faster, take more damage and there are more of them. There's barely any ammo. You die in one hit from anything. For a game thats already pretty difficult, its probably one of the hardest current generation challenges.
Or if you want to take literally the hardest challenge in video games, there's always Daioujou Death Label. MON, one of the best STG players in the world spent seven years to get the first recorded clear of the true final boss. Seven. Fucking. Years.

Good pick. Had a blast with the game and nearly went insane when I tried to do the no-hit challenges. I got until that terminator machine with that and it took me a good 6 hours in one sitting not to get hit once.
Moral of the story: Take a break and don't try stupid shit like this in one sitting.

Easily the hardest game I played and completed. Its almost impossible without a walkthrough, and even with a walkthrough its nut-bustingly difficult.
Akira Shimura's 2nd mission with the time limit where you have to escort a dumbass NPC through an area with 3 snipers was the single most rage-inducing level I've ever played in any game.

Mah nigga. Singlehandedly THE best metroidvania there is, seriously none of them come close and after beating La Mulana, none of them will really excite you much anymore. I'm playing Rabi Ribi now and while the bosses are great, the exploration factor is "good".
Like from playing La Mulana, there's no way I'm missing breakable walls anymore (for example).

Current alpha is pretty barebones and missing many features but it gives a good impression of how the game will eventually feel. It's also quite old as they've been making improvements dramatically faster than they've been putting out alphas. there's only five right now and they were from the first few months of development
Right now they've finished the maps and are working on textures and events as well as finalizing animations. It's definitely rough but it's fun to explore.

Idk man. Rpgs are cheatable and it's a different kind of difficulty. It's not about mechanical execution or tight reflexes, so it's hard to call it "hard" by default.

I think it's a cool concept as well, although some of the bosses especially at the start felt a bit too same. My favorite one so far is the maid robot inside the computer where you can't hit her with the hammer.
