According to the livestream interview with the producers the game will be set in the same universe and after the events of RE6 but that's it. The protagonist is some regular joe shmoe shmuck. No STARS members, no Leon, nothing. That combined with the first person view made me really anxious about the direction of the REmake 2, which is the only way i want to see any RE game.

I'm a little optimistic honestly. Not anywhere near hype, and it's definitely a cautious optimism, but Capcom have really been stepping their game up lately. Even SFV, which was kind of a disaster on launch due to lack of SP content, and buggy online, had fantastic core gameplay. It remains to be seen if this is truly them turning over a new leaf, or just a temporary thing, but I'm hopeful.

I always though being infected with T(phobos) may have had something to do with it, something to do with the Uroburos recognizing the elements of the Progenitor Virus in the T(phobos) or something like that, but that's just my theory.
Even then the Neil Tyrant was, most likely as a result of the weaknesses present in the two viruses, far more unstable than a regular Tyrant or an Oroburos Doomblob (shining a flashlight on him overheated him to the point where his heart popped out for Christ sake.)

I have some dealbreakers when it comes to RE games. First Person perspective is one of them. I hated it in Amnesia, i hated it in Outlast and i hated it even more in Gun Survivor. It's just not the way i want to play a RE game. I'm fine with the over the shoulder view if it's done right but the fixed camera angles of the classics is my preferred way to play a survival horror game.

For me the REmake is exactly how i like survival horror games and it's only way i like Resident Evil. This is not coming from a position of ignorance, i played the whole main series to completion but i haven't really liked a RE game since the REmake.

A natural progression, yes. RE4 does logically follow in design from RE3. But an advancement? I wouldn't agree that this shift was for the better, especially once RE5 shoehorned in a multiplayer focus, and RE6 straight up lost the plot. Hopefully RE7 reels things back to something more recognizably RE instead of whatever these last 2 mainline games tried to be, but it's too early to tell yet and I don't think this demo says much of anything in regards to the final product.

Leon campaign had good zombies, city and laboratory sections. Would have had a chance to be scary if there were no partner character.
It also had stellar controls that got quite fun once you got the hang of every component, its use and its timing, but you're probably deep into mercenaries content by that time, not in any campaign. If it had actual puzzles I'd call it the definitive RE experience to keep as the example to go forward into the future with.
Ada's came close to having puzzles because it wasn't fully made with the partner character bullshit in mind.
RE6 minus partner, plus puzzles, minus fucking j'avo, would be the best game in the series.
