This is not correct. Every level you get you earn a lootbox. Lookboxes hold 4 randomized items. Skins, sprays, taunts, icons, animations, and currency. They aren't tradable. All duplicates are turned into currency. Any of the above mentioned loot can be purchased with currency. So the closer you come to finishing your entire collection the more money you get from duplicates and can purchase the items you want. You can buy loot boxes with real currency but you can't buy currency in game.

Probably not, people would just go back to SMITE. One of the problems with Battleborn is the PvP itself is surprisingly slow-paced, guns and skills feel like peashooters. Even SMITE has teamfights which end in a matter of seconds. When a 3rd person MOBA feels more fast-paced and intense than a FPS shooter-MOBA, then the latter game has some serious design problems to it.

It's a shame that this didn't have a more robust PvE campaign, as I really like the setting and background and think that there was a lot of potential there. But I think MOBAs are inherently unfun and Gearbox's patented humour is very hit and miss. (The robot that thought he was a spider king and the different lines that counted down to the start of a mp match gave me hearty chuckles during the beta)
