Why didn't obsidian announce their new fallout game at e3? They're not even working on the new South Park game, so they don't seem very busy...
>>
>>341414167
Bethesda will never again allow Obsidian to make a Fallout game after they utterly embarrassed them with New Vegas.

Why would you want an Obsidian Fallout game? No offense but New Vegas was bad compared to Fallout 3 and 4
>>

I find it sad that this is probably right.

They're working on Tranny you dumb fuck.

That one in the PC gaming show
That kind of isometric rpg

Bethesda owns Fallout so they can't do anything unless Bethesda allows it, which I fuckin doubt. Furthermore, they're working on that new isometric RPGame where you play as an evil(?) protagonist.

They announced it like 3 years ago.

They're definitely working on another game, Feargus already spilled the beans. Unreal Engine 4, Tim Cain, Leo Boyarsky, prooobably World of Darkness license.

There isn't much more information yet. The "world of darkness" is speculation based on the fact that Paradox bought the rights to make games based on it and they have a tight partnership with Obsidian currently.

>>341416283
The funny thing is, with Avellone working on a Bethesda-published game (Prey) it's not that much of a stretch for him to work on the next Bethesda Fallout title. Not sure if want, though, but I guess he'd have fun doing that.

why would a remaster of Skyrim be announced when they almost assuredly won´t be able to reach mod´s level of graphics OR stability?
>>
New Vegas was announced only a year after Fallout 3, then released after DLC. We know this was a strict schedule because Obsidian actually wanted more time with NV but they didn't let them, leading to the whole 84 on metacritic debacle.

So regarding this, and IF Obsidian is making a fallout (the only "proof" of this is that Louisiana instagram post), It wouldn't be announced until later this year, probably after the second or third wave of FO4 DLC.

Obsidian likely wants nothing to do with bethesda anymore though

More chance of just subcontracting InExile, which has Tim Cain in it.

Fargo is just a businessman.

Anyway, I agree that Vegas was a good way to end the series. I'd be interested if a good studio took the IP and did a thing with it, but it's not something I desire dearly.

Why would obsidian be allowed to make a new fallout game? All bait and shitposting aside, fallout new vegas was the worst rated game all around, worst selling, and objectively the most boring. (Though it has the better story, lore, and characters) Bethesda would be retards to actually let another company, especially obsidian, make a fallout game. Bethesda should always be the ones to make fallout games, theyve been successful for almost 2 decades (unless fallout 1 came out in 1996, i dont remember ;P

Worst rated by retarded reviewers, and mostly because it was buggy at launch. It would sell much more and get better reviews if it was marketed as fuck like fallout 4. Don't see how is it more boring than fallout 3 considering its literally the same gameplay.

>Bethesda would be retards to actually let another company, especially obsidian, make a fallout game. Bethesda should always be the ones to make fallout games, theyve been successful for almost 2 decades (unless fallout 1 came out in 1996, i dont remember ;P

Actually, raising a budget simply raises the stakes. You still need to do the exact same thing except you need to justify the games features as accessible to the lowest common denominator as possible.

Unless you're talking about inter-company politics like publishers withholding pay so they can acquire either the IP or the studio for cheap. Kinda like what Bethesda/ZeniMax did with the original Prey developers and sort of what happened with Gas Powered Games. Honestly, after surviving for so long, I think Obsidian finally figured out how to maneuver around that.
>>
Obsidian has stated before that they would love to do a new Fallout.
The ball was always in Bethesda's court, but unfortunately they don't seem interested.

As for Obsidian they seem to be spread thin. They were on the brink of bankrupcy, just after having some big layoffs before Pillars.
Pillars might have done well but I doubt well enough to make them hire a lot of people.
They have a small team working on Tyranny for Paradox, I think they are still working on that tank game and probably all their senior staff are planning Pillars 2 and maybe the World of Darkness game.
I doubt we'll ever get Fallout:L.A.

Also I know inExile is a different company now but isn't it mainly the same crew and in the same building? I'm more than sure they trade manpower when needed.
>>
>>341425869
>Pillars might have done well but I doubt well enough to make them hire a lot of people.
It did extremely well. Obsidian is back to being a 100 man team (including managerial/HR/support staff). The success of Pillar's KS also catapulted them to fame, most of their pitches were accepted and being turned into games.

If you've ever done software development, you'd know that the whole planning phase is just a bunch of guys doing a meeting twice a week to brainstorm stuff. What they're busy now on is Tyranny and the tank game because it's what's actually been announced. That's all hands on deck.
>>
>>341426448
Source on them rehiring?
I know that Pillars did extremely good for them and made them relevant again but not to this extent. That's great news.
Also their new relationship with Paradox Entertainment is probably a good income source as well, better than what they would usually get at least.

Obsidian are working on making actual RPG's that are fun and don't fall for the Bethesda Open World meme

Pillars of Eternity 2
Tyranny
The World of Darkness game

Good on them. You Bethesdrones can go fuck yourselves and eat the shit Bethesda shits down on you.

From Sawyer

secretarcadephilosopher asked: Hi Josh. I have a simple question - how many people you have working in Obsidian? Always thought it's small studio, am I wrong?

>The company has grown and shrunk over time. It’s now a little over 200 people, with most of the developers working on Armored Warfare. The Tyranny team is between 20 and 30 people (I think). The Pathfinder team has less than 10 (again, I think). My team is currently fairly small, about 20 people.
