Seriously, I can't believe this shit. I have hundreds of hours across Ninja Gaiden, Bayo and the like and while I never played through a God of War game more than once or twice they were still some nice games to play.
Between this, Scalebound looking like shit, Ninja Gaiden being dead, DMC 5 probably not actually happening, and who knows what the fuck is going on with Bayonetta its a bad time to be an action game fan. The thing is Kratos was not a likeable character, he was not a well written character, and he was not someone who you wanted to see win particularly. The ending of God of War 3 left a lot of people going "Good job genius you destroyed the Earth because you killed your own family and daddy called you out on it"
Adding depth or development to Kratos is NEVER the wrong decision.
Its like the series is trying to grow up from being a shallow edgy teen who hates his dad to an adult who isn't flawless but is trying to make an honest effort to make something good.

I think the real issue isnt the weapon itself but how they limited its uses. Granted its a magic axe that comes back but in the gameplay we saw Kratos is literally just wacking the guy with it with zero combo potential or creativity behind it. If there were a previous GOW, Kratos might have threw the axe, called it back with the enemy still attached, and then proceed to split him in half or something.
