So, is this a good start?

Remastering "from the ground up" Crash 1-3. I kinda feel like this is a good way to bring him back, without shitting on the franchise entirely, to test grounds for an actual Crash game. The problem is, they will definitely use Activision's new design

RE1 has a remake, right? it's even called the REmake.

Shit like The Las of Us remastered is literally the same game but upscaled and some bullshit to sell it to you again ONE FUCKING GEN after when it was released, maybe with framerate fixes, but visually, it remains pretty much the same.


So I guess they're remaking it? I just hope they add the cut levels from Crash 1 and maybe rework some boss battles since Papu Papu was easy as shit.

You can't be serious. there's a lot of crates in the game which require you to risk your life to smash them and it takes skill to smash them without dying. What's the point in trying to 100% the game if it takes no skill whatsoever. Furthermore, there's crates which can only be reached if other crates are still there to jump on. So what if you break those launching crates and can't reach the other crates? Then you have to restart the whole level.

A lot of people complain about the high difficulty of Crash 1. It's better to start with Crash 2 since it has more polished controls, much less difficult, and is overall the best-designed of the series.

I believe you meant Stormy Ascent, Slippery Climb is the one in the game.
What I think needs to be "fixed" are the controls, 2's controls are infinitely superior and if they are remaking them I don't see why would they not use them.
And the "crates reset if you die" is only a problem is a few levels but that's just because of length, not actual difficulty (looking at you, Sunset Vista)

I am one of those who were really hoping for a new Crash title. I left Sony behind for Nintendo after the PS2. I would gladly go back to Sony and get a PS4 if Crash got a full reboot. The remasters were a really good idea, but I really hope more is in store for the series.

To save you must find 3 Tawana Icons in the stage, upon doing it so, you must complete a bonus round, if you succeed in the bonus round you are allowed to save the game
Failing the Bonus round will not subtract a life
You can also save by collecting 3 Bryo tokens, upon doing so you are warped to a deathroute, if you complete the death route you are allowed to save, failing to do so will subtract a life

If you fail at either of these you cannot save in this level till you restart

You can save too once you earn a gem or other special item
This last one might not be accurate, since my memory is a bit fuzzy, but IIRC, you can only save once per level
So if you save on lvl 1, you cannot use the same level to save anymore

Basically, if you are not perfect, you don't get to save your game

There is already dynamic difficulty in crash, its the very first game ND implemented it
If you keep fucking up on an enemy or environmental hazard the game will "cheat" and let you pass
for example, if you get killed over and over on one rolling boulder, the game will delay its trigger so you wont get killed, same happens with every other enemy

Crash does not need difficulty settings, its already perfect the way it is
Want easy mode?
You suck at the game already just give some time and you are in it
You want Normal?
Just beat the game
You want Hard
GIT GUD and become perfect so you can 101% it

I don't even remember any icons or tokens in the game. All I can remember is you needed to get 100% of the levels crates to get a gem which you needed for 100% and sometimes you couldn't get all the crates in a level unless you had already beat a later level which unlocks a gem that lets you access hidden crates.

He means "once you reach a checkpoint everything you broke so far stays broken", which is how it worked in 2/3. If you break some crates then die, you go back to checkpoint and everything is as it was when you activated it.

Honestly I'd much prefer just letting you save whenever you wanted at the map screen, doing levels in one life is a Challange to overcome, leaving your console on all night because there hasn't been a save point in 3 levels is just bad design.

Vicarious Visions did games before that for Crash and Spyro. Spyro suffered from Tony Hawk syndrome in that it was cool to have it on a GBA at the time, but is a bitch to play nowadays. The GBA Crash games were proper Crash games, though. Pretty impressive honestly.

Cold Hard Crash, the box if offscreen in the bonus round. It's super shitty since there's no reason why anyone would jump there, and nothing even hinting that it's in the bonus round. It's made even worse by CHC being the hardest level to 100%, since you need to do the Skull Route, then backtrack through it instead of continuing.

You forgot to mention that not every level has a Twana bonus round, and near the end of the game they are only every 3 levels, so you have to beat Slipperly Climb (hardest in game), Lights Out (a level in pitch black) and the long and difficult temple level all without fucking up.

And Brio Bonus Rounds didn't let you save, they were just absurdly hard challanges with no reward other than a few lives.

And getting a Gem saved.....getting the gem and nothing else. If you got a gem, and saved, then quit, you'd reload the game with the gem but with the level uncompleted. So if you got the Gem on Temple level on 3rd island but not bonus round, then died or quit, you'd have to do all 3 levels again.

Crash 1's save system is not good, I don't understand anyone who defends it. Difficulty is fine, but it's just tedium and a result of devs not really knowing how to make it work.
