They're games one of their several departments decided would no longer be profitable to sell at low cost anymore and they could instead use it to garner a more positive reputation from people like you in an effort to increase their profits with other games people are now exposed to once they get hooked into using their store and uplay.
The games they're giving away for free crossed that threshold. That line of "no longer valuable to sell" so they're giving them away for free.
This is basic stuff. Understand the motivations behind their actions. Understand the intention. They're not doing this because they're nice and they like you. They're a business. They want your money.
This makes you an advocate for them making money by trying to convince people on 4chan to participate in this farce.
