Nothing would get spoiled. Modern Zelda dungeons are so piss-easy and linear that showing footage of them wouldn't spoil a damn thing. Showing towns and NPCs would make the game look interesting instead of the empty slog it currently looks like.

Equipment slots, destructible weapons, survival elements and all that shit only way down the game. The open world is soulless and lonely. It will be too easy because kids will be scared by all the new elements. A lot of the textures look like shit. The artstyle is bad. VA. I'll give you some that come to mind.
1. The voice acting was really unnecessary, not by the performance itself
but because of the novelty of this feature in a zelda game.
It feels out of place and really hand-holdy.
They should have gone for the Team Ico approach and use a made up
language with subtitles to watch up the uncanny feeling.
2. Even though the new fighting mechanics are great and welcome,
they don't really fit the zelda framework. Link can use different
weapons like spears, axes, clubs, swords, bow and arrows
among others? cool. They get destroyed if used too much? cool (already done with deku sticks).
However, we know that weapons like the master sword exists
and they probably would be indestructible, meaning that the player would have
a weapon to rely on at some point which makes the whole newly
implemented weapon system pointless.
3. Again, the new fight mechanics are great and the lack of
spawning hearts is welcome, but judging by the few battles shown in
the demo, the enemies aren't rough enough to feel challenging putting
all the effort to waste in the complexity of the new weapon/fighting system.

Looks great. I really, really love that this looks like a game that will give you space both physically and narratively and will just let you take it in without rushing you onto the next set of strict sequence of events. If that is the case then that'll be a very welcome change to Zelda games for me.
The only thing I'm weary of is the voice acting and the possible crafting system. I'm just sick of those kind of ubishit games by now.
That said I'm surprised. Little things like optional knight armor and shit has me pumped for some reason. Glad I held off buying the WiiU and will probably just get the NX instead after the final verdict has come in.

So far there's nothing I particularly dislike. If the Demo is suppose to showcase a technical playground for attendees to chew on to get a feel for the new game and I'm sure more story relevant bits will show up later.
As for pop in, Wii U is pretty weak, everyone knows that. It's ugly but expected. Hopefully they will have a content predownload like XCX did to reduce this but it might be an issue till the NX, or even after.
I'm excited for the potential of adding a story to the gameplay will bring but as of right now it's a few months too early to damn it yet or to completely praise it.

I was expecting to be disappinted but this looks FUCKING AMAZING!

It really reminded me of the spirit of Zelda 1. It seems to have that similar feeling of being in a really old, mysterious land. I love the open, isolated feel. And the graphical style is just insanely cool.

I like how during the trailer they emphasized the interactivity elements: burning the grass, cutting trees, etc. It seems like they're really focused on having a breathing world that Link can truly touch and interact with.

There also seems to be a great sense of ancient mystery: I love the old fortresses and stone statues.

Also: that song in the trailer. Holy shit that song was good.

I've been wondering about this for a while: what makes the open world of an open world video game feel substantial instead of empty?

Ubisoft fills its overworlds with stuff to do, but the Ubisoft formula of "towers and 1000 collectibles" has grown stale to a lot of people given the backlash. Just Cause 3 has a huge world full of stuff to blow up, but most people got tired of it pretty quickly.

Is the only way to do it to do the thing Witcher 3 did and fill it with lots of side-quests? That doesn't seem practical for a Zelda game.

I also feel like they changed the usual more tight Zelda open world for one that's just bigger but doesn't have more content. It seems like you can wander for ages and find nothing more interesting than a couple of mobs. It's like wind waker where all the little islands where all the shit happens are incredibly spread out and you have to travel there for minutes at a time, just holding the button. I much rather take the usual smaller open worlds where you can go from A to B in no time. What's so great about having all this open unused space?

The problem the witcher 3 had were the endless points of interest. These shouldn't have employed quest mechanics at all, I.e. Shouldn't have been entered into the quest log, and they shouldn't appear on the map by default. They should just be bits and bobs you encounter if you stray from the beaten path, keep the quest log for important shit. If the POI is good enough devs feel you need to play it then draw attention to it organically. E.g. Smoke fire.

What I'm talking about is that the game map feels huge when you play, but in reality it's small and roads are mostly linear. What made it feel huge though is that every nook and cranny had something whether it's a enemy, treasure, or NPC/Sidequest. Also, dungeons were huge. Like the Everfall where you could free fall dive in that place.

The game is absolutely massive. I'm very impressed, especially given the weak hardware the game is on. And some parts of the game looked visually stunning. And this is just one of the smaller areas of the map, we haven't even seen the towns and real dungeons. Despite the small area there's a lot of diverse parts. There's going to be a ton to do.

Unfortunately I don't own a Wii U and I'm not buying the system just for this. Hopefully the NX has a promising launch, then I might be tempted to get one for this.
