Now that you've had an extensive look at Zelda for Wii U/NX, what are your thoughts? Does it look good? Will you get it?
>>
looks magnificent
>>
Looks amazing but worrying lack of music.
>>
I expected the worst, so I was surprised when it just looks mediocre.
>>
Generic open world gameplay that Nintendrones will latch onto because they have literally nothing else. And because they never play anything not nintendo they'll think it's something new and innovative.

It looks like the first game to ever get open world right.

From the graphics quality we know that this game wasn't delayed to make it look better, which means we know it was delayed because they needed to craft another 16 zones bigger than the plateau filled with cool shit.

I'm incredibly excited, this game looks dense and almost as thick as audrey
>>
the worst parts of bethesda games combined with the worst parts of ubisoft games

but it's zelda so people eat it up
>>
No hyrule field theme/no buy.
>>
>>341320957

Looks pretty gud.

Im liking the stats on items, Hope there is some end game stuff to work for
>>
Literally Skyrim for babies
>>
>>341320957
Looks pretty frickin good, the magnet especially looks fun
>>
>>341320957
Looks pretty great. I think Nintendo of all companies can avoid falling into the 'open world with nothing to do' trap.

I really liked The Witcher 3 but really hated how there was no dungeons and exploration amounted to checking off markers and generic bandit settlements on your world map. Since the Zelda series is 50% dungeons I think it'll do just fine in that regard.
>>
Literally nothing to do. Just like every open world game.

Zelda doesn't impress me in a post-Witcher world.
>>
>Actual huntable treasure with variable stats

I'm actually impressed. I hope to god they include ubers or rare versions of items that are worth more that you actually have to hunt down.
>>

>>
Not sure. It looks like it might suffer from Feature bloat. Also im afraid I will end up not playing it too long. There is something about open world Games lately that make me lose my momentum and stop playing them.

I'll keep monitoring
>>
>>341321249
>>341321631
This. The lack of music is pretty worrying.

>>341321669
>Implying Skyrim isn't for babies
Good one kiddie
>>
I'll definitely get it, but I just have no idea what the game is. All we've seen is how you can spend time roaming around killing things. Is that how everything works? Are there still dungeons and music?
>>
>>341320957
Looks good to me, I like the artstyle as well though everyone seems to be bitching about it

None of you can be serious right now. I know the nintenyearolds get the reputation for being mindless purchasing zealots, but this is insane. The game looks like absolute fucking trash. I can't imagine ever wanting to play what they've shown. This is insane. To look at this steaming pile of shit, and have positive feelings, is insane.
>>
>>341321575
>From the graphics quality we know that this game wasn't delayed to make it look better, which means we know it was delayed because they needed to craft another 16 zones bigger than the plateau filled with cool shit.
Or Nintendo just sat on the game so it can be ported to their new hardware, just like Twilight Princess.

It looks incredible, even on the Wii U.
I'm amazed that Nintendo managed to make such a thing. I'm okay with the delays now.
I also love these threads, I know that within a week /v/ will hate the game. Savor the time that we have where we can be publicly excited.

A lot of the typical Zelda charm doesn't seem to be there. Where are all the quirky characters and memorable locales? The game feels like a cross between Skyrim and Landmark. If it wasn't for the Link character you wouldn't know it's Zelda at all.
>>
I know Nintendo fans aren't aware of this, because their systems don't get third party games, but this type of game has been done a thousand times over already.

There's nothing new here. It just makes me want to fall asleep.
>>
>no music is a series known for its music
>inventory micromanagment
>OBJECTIVE MARKERS
>slo motion qte
>right handed imposter

I like the idea of having more freedom but the actual execution feels really quite bad.
>>
>>341320957
The color scheme takes me back to the first time I saw Skyward Sword footage, but just like with SS, it's a definite purchase because it's a Zelda and not on a handheld.
>>
>>341322097
>It looks incredible

By no standard does this game look incredible. It looks bad even for a Wii U.
>>
I'm with these other anons on the music. Hopefully the more scripted/linear parts (dungeons/bosses/entering new areas) come with musical themes. I can't imagine the final release won't hit you with a rendition of Hyrule Field when you come out of that starting cave. It feels like they may have cut it for the demo so that they could talk over it and focus on how the game will feel while generally adventuring around.
>>
>>341322098
They said they aren't focusing on npcs in the e3. Just Gameplay. I suppose there will still be npcs
>>
I don't like open world games, this isn't what I want
>>
>>341322098
>quirky characters

In the trash, where they belong. Zelda isn't about talking to NPCs for hours.
>>
>>341322098
Meh I can deal without a ton of quirky characters but yeah some towns wouldn't be a bad idea. I really hope each town/discovery has a use. The items you find having variable stats is a start, and I hope they expand on it.

Here's hoping they bring back meaningful magic like Zelda 2 as well.
>>
>>341321575

Jesus Christ, drones are so full of shit.
>>
>>341322098
>Where are all the quirky characters
Right there from the start? That old man at the bonfire was pretty funny; they have Link try to steal the apple he's baking.

>memorable locales
The main trailer showed some pretty diverse locations.

Both your complaints are factually untrue
>>
>>341322317
The resolution is iffy, but outside of that it looks great.
I know that you're just baiting, though.

I don't know. It just seems dull to me.

It's another "single player MMO" type game.

Kill the boar, chop the tree, get the loot, craft the armor, eat food, see the sights. Not my style really.
>>
visuals of the game are fantastic definitely has the Nintendo polish and all the environmental effects look great
combat looks a little weird I'm concerned how much link reels from getting hit it seems longer than before, could get annoying
dungeons look solid but I'm hoping there are longer ones
I'm fine with the new stuff they're adding personally
8/10 on the hype scale really excited to play this in like.... half a year... ugh
>>
>>341323009
Okay, sport.
>>
>>341322942

It's been confirmed that you can sell items for Rupees, so NPCs are in the game. They're just focusing on them in the demo, presumably because they want to make the game actually look interesting.
>>
Iv already played zelda so theres no need to

Theyre all the same and get boring after the 3rd or 4th dungeon
>>
>>341320957

i have no fucking idea how can people still get excited for zelda after that complete and utter shitshow that was skyward sword

even if somehow people are magicaly able to ignore skyward sword there is the fact that it's now an open world game that wasn't really one before and we all know how it ended for metal gear

nothing shown here sounds exciting beside the usual promise about how open world game are amazing and incredible (they aren't) remember that bit where solid snake has his horse shit on a road and then the jeep skid on the shit and solid snake attach a fulton to the jeep and you were like "oh wow, open world game are so cool"

now it's about rolling rocks from high place and burning stuff

>"NO SETTLEMENTS"
https://mynintendonews.com/2016/06/14/zelda-breath-of-the-wild-will-have-villages-to-explore/

>“I can’t share too much about villages because to tell you how the villages work, they’re interconnected to the story and overall world.”

Why do people assume they've seen 100% of what a game has to offer from a trailer and a stream of a starting area?

Would it be accurate to separate Zelda games into categories of:

>Arcade Zelda: focus on beating dungeons one after another
>Story Zelda: focus on story and NPCs
>Open Zelda: focus on world (this game)

It's an open world game which is empty and shallow gameplay wise.

the one series that can be attributed to innovating action adventure the most chooses to reinvent itself by doing what everyone else is doing? open world rpg? survival? rpg stats?

what the fuck are you guys excited about? punch your monitor in and play witcher 3 and you'll get a 100 hour preview of this stupid game.

skyward sword was terrible and this game just takes more departures. i don't know if you guys just didnt like old zelda, or cant help yourselves getting excited for anything because life is so shit right now, or if youre just paid nintendo shills, but this game basically marks the death of zelda.
>>
>>341323930

>bad games (twilight princess to now)
>>

>>
>>341323428
skyward sword was undoubtedly a shit show but the fact there's no sword waggling immediately makes me optimistic about this.
>>
>>341323773

i'm not saying the game is all about that, i'm saying that's the sort of thing that they show you to sell people on the idea of open world game, "here's this amazing thing that won't be possible if the game wasn't open world"

but then when the game releases, it's just not practical to do so and it ends up being more of an easter egg thing rather than the amazing display of player freedom they wanted

that's why i made the example with MGSV horse shit

Looks pretty good so far but there are some decisions I might not be happy with.
Open world looks a little to empty to be honest, though doing things like gliding and snowboarding might make it more tolerable.
I really need to see gameplay inside a dungeon and how boss battles are actually going to play before I can tell if I like it or no.

This is the objective answer. I'm pretty sure there's more actual Zelda beneath the skin, but we haven't seen a lot of it. All the open world shit and all the little detailed fun mechanics are cool, but Nintendo hasn't talked about what makes Zelda Zelda specificly to not spoiler it. I'm very excited just from seeing how they have the world set up, all the neat little things like shivering in the cold, grabbing a branch then setting it on fire and starting a brush fire if you want, chopping down trees, and so on, and it just generally looks pretty populated and with lots of stuff to do. Fighting also looks very involved though the people playing looked a bit clumsy and didn't Z-target that much for some reason.

I'm just a bit worried when it comes to stuff like how the fast travel system is going to work(Will it be like Dragon's Dogma where you set points to warp to or will it be certain areas like dungeons?), if they're not going to have one at all and force us to traverse back and forth across that entire expanse with a horse, will the Master Sword actually be infinite durability or in it at all, will I be able to get a sword and temper it so it lasts more than a handful of slashes, will bows durability get buffed so it doesn't break within like 10 shots for some reason, will there be any penalty to just rolling bombs at enemies since they seem to be infinite, will I be able to unlock some of the tunics from the other games(Like in Okami you could get all the other Ammy skins for instance) once you beat the game, and the general damage as of now seems really low outside of the Guardians.

Another thing I'm kind of worried about is will all the chests you find in the overworld just be garbage like 10 arrows? That's all they seemed to be getting.

They've said this is because the towns in the game tie into the story and they won't show them due to spoilers. I'm sure there are some really cool towns in the game.

Crippling disappointment at seeing a series that I love being so disastrously killed like this.

Just look at this pop in.

It's painful.

I played and completed Ocarina of Time in 1998 at the age of 14.

I loved the game so much that I immediately wanted to know if Nintendo were working on another one. In those days I didn't have Internet, and the only way to get vidya info was by buying magazines but I didn't even want to wait for that.

In my naivety, the very same day I finished OoT, I contacted Nintendo customer support to ask if another Zelda game was coming out. Of course the monkey on the other end of the line didn't know, so I waited, later purchased a Dreamcast and used the dial-up Internet to check for Zelda news every day. Eventually Majora's Mask was announced and I couldn't wait.

What a fucking disappointment. I mean the game was very good, don't get me wrong, but that feeling you got from Ocarina of Time playing it the first time was gone. Maybe the next Zelda game will match the greatness of OoT, I thought to myself.

I waited and waited, purchased the Gamecube, and finally Wind Waker was announced.

>JESUS Nintendo wtf have you done to the visuals

Cel shading. Fucking Celda. Why? I tried to get over my disappointment. Maybe the game will be great. What does it matter if it looks like a cartoon for 6 year olds? I convinced myself that it would actually be the same great game experience.

Boy, was I wrong. Fuck you, Celda.

And yet, still, I lived in hope. Nintendo are an incredible game company, I reasoned. Ocarina of Time can't just be a one-off. I know they'll blow me away with their next Zelda. I just know it.

TO BE CONTINUED.........
>>
What i found worrying is that all they showed when I watched for like 2 hours was combat, enemies and the beginning. I got the feeling there are no npc's other than the Shrine and old man, and the world didnt appear to be that big, so I hope it expands beyond the mountains. I would like to know i'm not the last of people in Hyrule.
>>
>>341326256
that's wrong though
>>
>>341326613
>I got the feeling there are no npc's other than the Shrine and old man

>>
I've been bitching in a previous thread but I'll just forget all about it and just hope we haven't seen anything yet.

The things they showed us so far (apart from a few minor things) aren't new to the series, it's the same shit we've seen in TP/SS.

But having a huge overworld you can interact with is a step in the right direction, I sure hope the exploration is rewarding, this is basically all I'm asking for at this point.

.......CONTINUED

I watch E3 2004. 3 games interest me the most.

>Half Life 2
>Resident Evil 4
>Zelda Twilight Princess

I'm not particularly over-awed by TP. I mean, Capcom were getting these fantastic fucking visuals out of teh Gamecube with RE4, which became one of my favourite games of all time, along with Half Life 2. Of course the Wii was announced a year or so later, before TP hit the shelves, and a Wii version was coming. Hey, I've had every Nintendo console up until now, and this Wii looks promising. I travelled to a trade show in Dublin, and tried out the Wii a few months before release. I was sold. Twilight Princess here I come.

Fucking. Disappointment. Again.

Controls felt clunky. Visuals looked like someone had smeared fucking vaseline all over the TV screen.

Not to worry, surely the next Zelda HAS to be great.

I had a date with Skyward Sword. Outwardly I was smiling (it's going to be great, it's going to be great); inside I was already dead.

Skyward Sword marks the last time I had high hopes for a Zelda game. I've let it go. I've moved on. I'm having actual sex with an actual girl now, and I don't care if Zelda U/NX is good or a piece of overhyped repackaged shit that Nintendo have been flogging for almost 2 decades now. That teenage lad who fell in love with OoT won't ever forget that experience, but the adult he currently is realizes that that experience was a once-off, and is gone forever.

i haven't even purchased a Wii U, and it's going to take a lot more than hyperbole and promises from nintendo to make me consider an NX purchase.

tl;dr Stop kidding yourselves, lads. Zelda is dead.

Not sure yet. It's a very bold departure from the Zelda formula, which is great, but I need to know a little more about it.

The world seems pretty barren to me. Aside from the shrines I didn't really see them find anything interesting, which is important in a game with a large open world. They have a full-on open world RPG-sized map but don't have the things open world RPGs use to fill that map like different quests, random encounters, etc. There also don't seem to be many types of collectibles.

The combat seems pretty similar to other Zelda titles at a glance. The inventory management and weapon durability strike me as a tad annoying.

The setting itself is interesting enough. The game looked pretty good on Wii U, so I imagine it will look and run even better on the NX. I didn't hear much music but then again I wasn't really listening so I can't judge.

Seems pretty solid overall but I'd have to see more of it and the rest of the NX's library before I resigned myself to buying it.

I'm really happy Nintendo owns Monolith. They just let them be them with no inputs at all. Only help with some coding when they ask for it. And Nintendo seem to be happy with how sales are going for them.

I deeply enjoyed Skyward Sword (come at me bro) for its Mario 64-esque open-ish areas that you could whack things and climb stuff and slide around in. The game recycled areas but there was a lot you could learn about each space, making returning to those spaces in my opinion very satisfying.

I think this game is making a bold move by making things really open. I hope that there is magic in every bit of the game even if it there is a an easygoing pace to all the exploration. I'm a bit apprehensive about having to climb one wall for half a minute, or walk along a flat field for five minutes, but I think they can make it work. At least you don't have to hunt for stuff just to go out to a new area.

The apparent lack of a cozy central town is odd, but maybe you can make a nice fort of your own.

I think this game will divide fanbases quite sorely. I expect lots of 4/10 and 9.5/10 reviews for it. It will really come down to your preferences as far as world structure in a game.

I'm pretty sure they are going for a "The point of the game is to play it" route. Basically the MGSV route. It seems like they are trying to give the player a lot of options to complete similar/identical tasks, or at least more than is usual in Zelda. I'm not sure if this will turn out well for the series, as it may destroy a lot of its charm. It may not, though, if executed well.

I'm confused: are those small "shrines" the replacement for dungeons, or will we still get huge, full-fledged dungeons like all other Zelda games?

after getting a closer look at the UI, I'm starting to get nervous. It looks like a carbon copy of TW3.

This is the first time Nintendorks have seen an open world game and Nintendo are banking on it.

>that's the most important part of zelda
I'd say they're 50/50 with the world. I find the Zeldas that fumble the worlds turn out the worst. The DS games had just as good of dungeons as ever but their primary fumble was a shit world to connect them all by. Dungeons and worlds should split the fun down the middle.

they've already confirmed shrines are just smaller challenge areas

Stop watching it if you feel like you've seen enough.

Looks promising. Will probably buy.

Looks a lot like MGSV and that's a very good thing.

Im gonna buy it, and then im gonna do a 100% Naked Run.

There are shrines and there are dungeons, they're separate.

We didn't see a dungeon, though. So no telling what they're actually like.

They said shrines are entirely separate from dungeons.

Yes

Stopped around when they showed off the shrine part. Anything big I've missed?

It looks mediocre, even outright bad.

Game will be another SS, for sure.
>>

Remember they are playing within ONE area. I doubt there would be more than 1 dungeon per area

Instead of finding hearts in the grass, Link now eats food to restore health.

Big words coming from a Zelda fan. Tell me, what was the last good Zelda? I don't remember there being a fun one since the SNES,
