It really is fascinating, but I'm a businessfag. I hope we get an in depth analysis and interviews about the decision making process of both games one day.
From what I remember, Blizzard made an MMO (called Titan, right?) that got far into development but they deemed it wasn't fun. They canceled the game, but instead of firing everyone on the team, they had them work on a new game (Overwatch) using some of the assets and using the lessons they learned on Titan and so far it's a success.
Meanwhile, Battleborn is Gearbox's most expensive game and seems to have made every wrong decision possible.

im one of those 10 million overwatch players, i tried to get a refund on day 1 after release but couldnt because i played for more than 5 hours. Havent touched the game ever since, i kinda expected them to at least do some changes between release and open beta, instead they did nothing but count preorder money. Maybe in a couple of months once they balance it enough for PC, add proper ranking system with hero locks, add another 20 heroes, i'll consider giving it another try. You do know there are ways to counter every ultimate right? They all server wide announce they are doing a ult so you can take measures to not get fucked up by them. Hanzo's ult can be easily countered by using your movement skills to get the fuck out of the way, Reaper is a case of keeping a eye on him when he starts acting funny and shoot the fuck out of him once he tries, DVA can be countered by anything you can stand behind, ect. Git gud.

But nobody in the FGC considers Melee a fighting game, anon. Likewise, no serious fps player considers TF2 a worthwhile fps game.
Call it elitism if you want, but that's how it is. The only people who think Smash is a serious fighting game are Smash players, and the only people who think TF2 is a serious fps game are TF2 players (and even then, much of the comp community is quite aware of how trash the base game is).

I've never even played Dirty Bomb. But no fps game can be taken seriously when it has fucking stealth mechanics. That's a stupid as fuck gimmick. It's always unfun, never skill indexed, and always has diminishing returns as you play with better and better players.

I've played TF2 for years and I agree with this. Stealth literally takes the fun out of multiplayer since it removes the confrontation element and is literally the equivalent of crashing other people's application as a game mechanic.

dirtybomb has classes but you are still able to effectively do well with all classes short range to long range and are not forced into certain positions on map to have good team synergy.
TF2 is bassicly quake where each class is 1/9 of all classes togheter. Characters are gimped to certain scenarios and don't have the freedom to choose where they want to be because they will fuck up team synergy. That is what shitty class based games are like, like overwatch.

The problem is that there are absolutely no cues for enemy ult percentages.
In tf2, your spy can see enemy uber percentage, and if the enemy medic has uber, his medigun glows and has a static effect. THERE ARE NO CUES in overwatch besides JUSTICE RAINS FROM ABOVE and DIE DIE DIE. literally the only way to read the enemy ult % is to die and read it from the killfeed. it's dumb. it doesnt reward awareness, it rewards you for getting lucky.

i have to agree that most pharas are dumb retarded "tf2-soldier-wannabee" imbeciles but when you play vs "okayish" ones it just starts being infuriating, as in there is no counterplay to phara who flew around the map and ulted you in the back, neither is there any skill involved in it. "poor game awareness" is just an excuse to shitty game design. Maps always force you into certain positions, even the heroes with "extra mobility" - there is always a point to be captured or cart to be pushed, and at certain points you are going to have to go out there in the open and risk getting instagibed by any of the countless bullshit this game offers.
