Zelda often gets delayed. Also there was a credible leak in like 2012 or 2013 that said they were trying to go for 2013 release, but ended up aiming for 2014 and now it's 2017. Yes it's a long long time for delay, but it sounds like those aims were just internal deadlines to see what they could do in that time.

This attitude is killing creativity. People need accept that motion/touch screen controls are not for everyone. But there a number of games that handle it just fine. TWEWY and Kid Icarus: Uprising were both incredible games but they're guaranteed to turn people off due to their control schemes. This is the essence of a polarizing game.
