Just swap the guts out easy and you have the next gen right away for significantly cheaper and no need for a new design for the whole console anymore.

I will never understand, games are about motion, they're not paintings. I just experienced 75fps on a 75hxz monitor and the difference form 60fps was surprisingly noticable. I'm getting 144hz monitor as soon as possible. FPS matter so much more than resolution, it's amazing how much more fun just 15 more fps can make a game. I've played at 4K and it was not as impressive as 75fps on a shitty 1440x900 tn panel.

This is to get people who don't want to build a PC into VR. I know this is hard for the PC master race to comprehend, but not everyone wants to build, update, and maintain an PC, nor when a console is pretty self sufficient. This allows the masses to access it in a tidy easy to use package, which is appealing to alot of people, even if the price is the same.

But the problem that I have is the bloody fact that it's not really 'tidy' to use VR in the first place. You are tethered by a wire to the console, and it's a hassle as you strap that thing on to game. The very setup is not smooth as butter and definitely not as braindead as picking up a controller and off you go easy.
