I don't remember them saying they were gonna make the MP weapons work the same but they did say they were gonna greatly expand snapmap. All that has been confirmed is that there are Quake movement mechanics (more than you could say for Doom 4), that you pickup weapons, and that different characters will have specialties. Honestly, I've had more fun with Nintendo games this generation than I have in nearly a decade.
I mean, if you want gritty stuff or sports, Wii U doesn't have much to offer, but all the games I listed above are incredibly fun. Wooly World and Tropical Freeze have the best platforming since the N64. Mario Kart 8 is maybe the best in the whole series. Bayonetta 2 is the Devil May Cry sequel we never got. Mario 3D World literally pioneered *good* co-op 3D platforming. And Splatoon is addictive as fuck.

Not bullshitting. I nearly skipped seventh gen. I had a Wii and played all the worthwhile games on it, but I never got a PS3 or Xbox 360. I did borrow my brother's 360 and I played a few games like Katamari, Fable 2, Lost Odyssey, Bayonetta, Hardboiled, Forza, and GTA, but other than Lost Odyssey, none of these were on the level of Yoshi Wooly World or Mario Kart 8.
This is the first generation Nintendo's next generation of young developers has started to take over for the old guys in the company. Judging from the quality of games, I have quite a bit of hope that the NX will be fantastic. The quality of the Nintendo games on the Wii U are just phenomenal.
