Yeah but the stickers you receive at conventions usually have a commemorative purpose, they aren't stupid "look @ me im a h4ck3r" type of things most of the time. We collect them because it kind of works like a CV when you meet new people at events. They're great conversation openers.
And of course there's also stickers for projects or associations you support like the EFF and such.
