Go through the layers one at a time, don't let them trap you. The way the bullets are arranged basically means you'll be moving up or down slightly, then left or right slightly, until the bullets turn back into lasers, which is when you should preposition yourself.
As for the survival card, it's mostly static but I suck at it some I'm probably not the best one to take advice from on it.

I played the newer ones for a while and going back to 6 was a lot of fun and I really appreciate the simplicity of it, but playing as Reimu is literally impossible because of her movement speed. Also I don't remember, but is Meiling entirely RNG? I keep getting patterns that fuck me in the ass.
