Depends what you really want when you say "combat". DMC4 is a nice juggle simulator because of how tame the enemies are. Deep combat can also come from good enemies, not just the ability to juggle them indefinitely mid-air.

I would argue you're not really playing a good action game unless you're playing them on the hardest difficulty (assuming decent difficulty design which dmc has) you have to have really solid skills to juggle your way through DMD especially with devil triggered enemies gaining a ton of poise.

Exactly, and when you play on the hardest difficulty it's the way to judge it. DMC4 is the second easiest DMC game behind 2. DMC1 is still the hardest game in the series, and I still find it fun to this day because of the enemies and not necessarily the combat depth compared to the others in the series since it pioneered them. Same thing with the Ninja Gaiden Games (Black and 2). The enemies are so fun to fight but the combat itself isn't necessarily "deep", but the enemies do a good job of keeping you on your toes at all times and you need to use all your tools.

You really don't. I S ranked every mission on DMC4 on every difficulty with minimal jump canceling. DMC3 would be a better argument since JCing Killer Bee is almost a must for Vergil 3 on DMD.
