I actually played both of those, but never finished them. I even got pretty far in Ys. I was in the huge black tower or whatever, beat a bunch of bosses and was about to rescue someone from the tower's dungeon or something. Don't remember much from the game aside from the bumper car gameplay, the great music and many of the bosses being difficult. I think I played it on hard though.
