TF2 is so far from its fucking prime, it needs to be dumped in the garbage. I started playing in 2007 and quit entirely 2 years ago. The Halloween Update that was lazy as fuck was the final straw for me. They obviously wont ever put as much effort into anything again because they let the Community do whatever the fuck they want.
I remember being so excited to see a new Update in TF2, especially major Holiday ones. They gave me the same joy as doing Runescape Holiday events.

You need to put in contest what the gamemode is supossed to be about, it is not about what class is the most OP but how you can work around in make it OP. Some examples, people seems to understimate how powerfull a buffed scout can be, because he does not really have to go balls deep inside the enemy to do good, just by dealing damage and get out or flank or make them worried about you being around their backline can be bad enought, also movibility is really important in the game, especially if you need to be everywhere to get the objetive, like contesting points, flanking, escaping, and that's what makes him good because he can take more spam and scout that is constantly buffed to go back to attack/defend an area from blastjumping characters is really good. Then you hace Payload maps and how unlikely is for a scout to do good in certain parts of a map, like last point on Upward, or Heavy on third point of Badwater. The map is also part of the balance, so it's not always consistent, but on CP, scouts rape. Also, you have dissavantage like the short range capabilities of a sniper being countered by bein fully buffed by a medic, being protected by a sentry and the razorback. But if I had to chose, i'd definitely nerf the sniper instead of scout by a big margin. Unless you are limiting yourself of a class by picking him (like in 6s), sniper is fucking broken and is one of the class that has the biggest potential to control the pace of a game along medic.

Finally somebody with some common sense in this shit. There is not a "right" way to play the game, even if you are good aiming or if you understand the concept of the objetive, you can have a lot fun doing random shit in the server browser. Something that would've made me stay in the game was finding randomizer servers close to my my country with retarded shit like random crits to actually enjoy it, even worse if they are something like crits=on but nospread. The most fun I've had was playing in a randomizer server in that mariokart map, also playing along with a another dude in an empty pl_hightower_event. The thing about this game is that there is a lot of random shit that you can try that is not the base game. Even Dodgeball can be really fun. I've read a dude saying that he played tf2 just for that mode.
This game can be really fun to you because of the potential to caming across SOMETHING that you could enjoy because there is a lot to do. Glad to came a cross a person who actually thinks games are suposed to be fun. Anyone can give it a try if they enought free time to experiment with it.
