I don't know if DC ever got popular enough for them to warrant a remake. Also keep in mind that the REmake we have today exists only because it's based on the GCN REmake. They probably wouldn't have bothered trying if they didn't already have a lot of the work done.

I liked the first one. Enjoyed the 2nd but didn't like the direction it was headed in. Didn't touch 3, thank fuck.

I think it's a Silent Hill 4-like scenario where the game at the same time feels like Dino Crisis but also changes enough to feel like a totally new IP with new (not necessarily welcome) mechanics and all.
Again, i haven't played it in ages so i couldn't exactly point out what was wrong with it. Actually, i remember it being kinda fun, but it was pretty annoying in parts. Some enemies were bullets sponges (wasn't it kinda the same in 2 tho, now that i think about it?) and the character's move-sets was completely renewed, you basically had a jetpack that allowed you to jump very high or dash through the levels. Such liberty brought also more platforming with it, and the game was kinda annoying with it because they also kept the fixed camera angles (i think), so i remember often jumping without exactly being able to see where i was landing, and as i already mentioned the levels were kinda complicated to navigate in the first place
But maybe that was just me being shit at the game, so don't take my word for it

Old survival horror games felt so long because you don't really know what you're doing or where you're going. A lot of time is spent just examining and reading things, stopping to smell the roses.
I miss that feeling, the environments managed to feel so characterful despite being fairly run-of-the-mill sci-fi locations. I think it comes with the style and presentation of the genre, they'd come off as unremarkable otherwise.
