ICO and Shadow of the Collosus are both overrated. I revisited both of these games a few years ago and they're dull, frustrating, and just plain not fun.
For their time they were impressive but that was two generations ago, so even the awe-factor will probably be gone. It'll probably still be popular with autists but objectively speaking it's unlikely to be more than trash.

sotc's art was only impressive because it was on a fucking ps2. It was the first time that sense of scale could be imposed on you without it being some goofy sprite in the background.
Ico isn't unique except for in the things it does wrong box puzzles and escorting around a tard. The stick fighting was nice but with infinite health and slow ass shadow enemies you're never in danger of losing and it's not fleshed out enough to save the game.

This is a disgrace, after 10 years of Sony talking about this game it's finally a reality but it doesn't look any better than what we saw back then, it looks worse. The downgrading is real.

Fact of the matter is that the PS3 could render that old footage at 720p(trailers were in 1080p) and since the PS4 will be playing it at 1080p, to make it work at 30fps they've seemingly removed some of the graphical features. The shitty hardware can't do any better.

The game looks almost identical to how it was before but without fog and shadows mainly. If it was prerendered before(it wasn't, it didn't even look amazing graphically) it's still prerendered now(it wasn't obviously).

Gameplay looks pretty shitty too.

At BEST the birdog will be a gigantic scripted set piece, but that comes with its own problems.

Did nobody else ever experience those moments in SotC where you think "I need him to swing at me to break this", but he won't swing at you, so you try other stuff for like 30 minutes, give up, look up the guide online, and then oh hey you were right it's just you didn't quite hit the invisible trigger for that animatic for just the right duration when you walked through that area?

That's what the whole game will be on a GOOD day, stumbling blindly through the world looking for invisible trigger boxes to set off the birdog animation sequence that makes the next thing possible.

On a bad day the damn thing is trying to use pathfinding algos to navigate vertically disparate voxels on a navmesh and using rule-based structures to trigger actions, which means essentially that instead of YOU hunting for trigger volumes, the AI is hunting for trigger volumes, and you're trying to bait it into them.

I don't think AI tech is at a point where it would be possible to make a game like this work well.

It's okay to re-use that logic in different settings in a game about shooting guns; if the whole game is just about the AI, the table-flipping gets old quick.
