All those books from the old days teach you how to draw shit out of fall out or early disney like cartoons, I see a lot of portfolio animations on youtube and the characters are super stretchy and its shit straight out of the bugs bunny playbook like do you want to study and replicate works that are from eras gone by? You want to study from material thats new and recent you dont want to learn fundamentals from expired shit unless you are going for that look specifically. All artists should continue to study new styles and techniques too many people find a way that works and then they dont bother trying anything else.
That being said though life will always be the perfect study because it will always be relevant. Study physical 3d objects in front of you is always your best bet.

Trying to improve, and not completely stagnate, is fairly difficult, can't just draw chickenscratch 3/4 side-view figures forever, right?Even though I still pretty much did that anyways.
