Also its true the DS was an experiment and if it failed then they would go back to normal Gameboy, this was apparent during the Micro stage which was the last gameboy released and it was still being produced while the normal DS's were out. PS3 games got better because developers got better with LibGCM, not because the Cell was magic.
As developers get better with asynchronous shading and GNM PS4 games will continue to improve visually. Probably not as much as the PS3 did because the software development of the environment wasn't as fucked from the beginning as on the PS3, but games will still get better.

Every game with sense locks the framerate to something. You NEVER let the framerate go wild otherwise unpredictable shit happens. The doesn't mean the system is powerful enough. Uncharted locked at 30fps because it probably wildly jumps between 35 and 45 fps dependent on the scene. And Battlefront isn't a wildly demanding game despite its visuals.

The NEO is going to be a huge failure and no developer is going to take advantage of it because it requires extra work and the vast majority of userbase will remain on regular PS4s. This isn't a $150 handheld like the 3DS, we're talking about $450+ here, I doubt people are going to "upgrade" or get the more expensive model when the regular one gets the job done. The mainstream market isn't a bunch of spergs obsessed with framerate and resolution.

PS4neo isn't discontinuing PS4, both will get the same games until the end of the generation. Once PS5 comes out I wouldn't be surprised if there are still PS4/PS5 games 2 or 3 years into PS5's life.

PS3 is still being supported to this day with new games, at least 4 new releases this month alone (GuiltyGear Revelator, OdinSphere Leifthrasir, Atelier Sophie, and StarOcean5), It's also getting Persona5 in japan this year and in the west in 2017, between other games. And their 2 previous home consoles were also supported for a long while.
