The problem is that eliminations aren't the same things as kills. It means you contributed to a certain number of enemy deaths, regardless of how much.
Toblerone always has the highest elimination count solely on the fact that if his turret taps a single person for 1 damage and that person dies from any other means, he gets credit.
25+ eliminations doesn't mean you carried the team. Especially a S76, who's rifle is capable of just tapping several enemies that he doesn't necessarily have to follow up upon.

I like being all up in people's faces so generally tanks are my go to(Reinhardt is my spirit animal), though I also dig characters like S76 who have some longevity in the prolonged fights and Lucio as my choice of support. Its alright to specialize in a role but theres usually one or two characters in each role that just clicks with you
