I've gone through THREE of these fucking black 360 pads so far, and every single one of them I've had to take apart in order to sand down the gates around the thumbsticks so that they could even register full motions.

I like the DS4 in general, only flaw in my mind is the analog sticks have a tendency to start peeling after a while but otherwise good feel and works great with a lot of stuff.
I tried the WiiU Pro Controller as well but driver support was ass and even after I got it working noticed some very noticeable input lag with it.

I used an afterglow wired controller for years. I recommend it if youre on a budget but the official wired Microsoft controller is much better.
Also used classic controllers from the Wii with a usb adapter. Those are great.
Finally I got a steam controller. It is very nice.

Xbone controller uses the same drivers as 360 though, it's literally the exact same
i use my gamecube controller in games that dont need an extra shoulder button. outside of that i use my dualshock 4 because i cant stand the dpad on the x360 controller. xbone would probably be the way to go

I actually got my Xbone when they were still wired. Then I got the wireless adapter when it came out. About the batteries, I already had rechargeable AA so it wasn't a biggie for me.

Fuck microshits controillers. Last 2 I had died in under a fucking year of use, and I didn't even use them all the time, only when emulating or driving. Literally trash and cheap sold for 40 fucking dollars. I kept mine in perfect condition, never fucked with the wire or anything, they're just extremely cheaply made.
I use a Dual Shock 4, and I would tell you to get an Xbox 360 controller. Nearly every game expects you to use the 360 controller, and all the screen prompts will be for that. Having to convert it in my head every time gets old. Fuck MS for reversing the A/B and the X/Y I was used to on the SNES
