The new expansion area is purposely oversaturated. It's supposed to be a nicer, more lively area compared to the harsh shitholes of the previous two regions. But purposely gives a false impression as the region is also pretty harsh.

is there a bug with b&w's weather? i played thorough the whole thing and it rained a grand total of once.
Actually, here's a quick comparison. Here's the Velen region, from the base game. Supposed to be a more harsh environment in the north and somewhat war-torn.
And here's Toussaint from the Blood and Wine expansion. A more southern region and not currently in a war, a bit more of a happy place, but with a big story related crisis.

It's only this expansion area, it's deliberately meant to be garish and excessive because it fits the tone of the place.
Hey OP, look into 5-HTP if you think you suffer from depression. Saved my life.
And for loneliness I recommend Persona 4 or original 3 Metal Gear Solid games, or Silent Hill (1-3)

Either play all of them, or just play 3. 2 really isn't worth it on its own. If you're gonna skip one anyway, just skip both.
I wouldn't say it's super essential play them all. You run into familiar faces in all games, but the two biggest characters in 3, besides Geralt himself, were only in books.

The first screenshot was with a GTX 760, the second one with this 970.
So slightly higher settings in the second one, but nothing too noticeable. Looks less "realistic" even on the stronger hardware because of the saturation.
