AC1 until last raven was what you could call evolution. AC4 was distinct from early games, from both gameplay and presentation (even if premise is basically the same), and AC5 is distinct from the rest as well, even if the change is less jarring than last raven to 4.
I'd certainly consider 4 and 5 to fall under "A reboot/new idea from previous franchise", and there are others out there that agree as well.
