Just finished up Blood and Wine and my time with the game itself. Hearts of stone was about 400% better but I did enjoy that last nod at the audience to show the journey was over.

For example, I did a quest to kill a monster that turned out to be Scoia'tael fags, and got a pass across the Pontar so I could go visit Novigrad. I didn't even know you could do that. Syanna is one of many Princess to be labelled as being cursed under the black sun (aka an eclipse) which comes from one of the short stories in the first Witcher Book "The Last Wish". Basically Mages have convinced everyone that princesses born during an eclipse are evil mutants with precognative abilities that are super cruel murderers and harbingers of the apocalypse and that they should all be killed and studied in the name of science or locked away in towers. Syanna reminds Geralt of Renfri, a similar former princess who had been exiled by her family who had come to the town of Blaviken to get revenge on the mage who made her an outcast and tormented her (this is also where he gets the title of Butcher of Blaviken). Geralt was forced to kill Renfri and her band of mercenaries to prevent them from attacking the town and he still feels remorse over his inability to save Renfri. If you read the story how Syanna acts and how Geralt acts in response to her will make a lot more sense to you.

I really like Triss in this game, but just from how things progress from the battle of Kaer Morhen forward I kinda wish I had romanced Yen instead.
