I don't agree. Let's look at her life, she was a mage, in Dalaran. She had no great connection to her father, she had no childhood. Then she is trained to be a mage, that's not easy. well the scourge does have flight capabilities themselves, in a movie finale scene you could have it start out with several necropolis's approaching dalaran followed by an assault of frost wyrms that take out the flight capabilities of dalaran forcing it to the ground
after that you'd have your typical undead swarm assaulting the city with some mage action actually being fairly successful holding it back...which of course is a distraction for Arthas and some more elite undead to enter the city and steal the Book of Medivh
Dalaran successfully fights back the undead hordes, they retreat but Arthas did manage to get the book, summon Archimonde and he proceeds to fuck up Dalaran cinematic style

Using Magic is through your own power. Using Fel or Arcane magic is fine as long as it is your own power, But it is considered your weapon of choice.

They were basically in a Cold War barring a few locations, the BGs, SS/TM, etc. The Forsaken were generally kept to their own until they and Sylvanas realized that Lordaeron will fall one day if they don't expand and create more Forsaken.
