Is this the worst first hour of any video game ever?
>>
>>340857069
Only because crawling was so slow, but that was better than most of the middle game.
>>
>>340857069
Probably. Kojima takes cinematic walking to cinematic crawling.
>>
No. The second time they forced you to do it is the worst hour in any video game ever.
>>
>>340857069
but anon, it's the most memorable mission in the game
What a fucking shitshow
>>
It was actually a really good cinematic intro to a shitty open world game.

If the rest of the game had been half as linear and scripted as the intro, game would have been GOTYAY.
>>
>>340857141
This.
>>
>>340857141
that
>>
>>340857141

Definitely this. Was so painfully obvious by that point that they had you do it from lack of time or budget. Fuck it was such a painfully weak note to end on.
>>
>>340857069

I found it really tense the first time, but completely neutered when it, for some reason, turned up again later.
>>
no since many jrpgs does it worst

They couldn't even bother to remove the fucking tutorial prompts.

Didn't get to the second time they made you do it

Was it exactly the same?

What reasoning did they give for it to happen a second time?

its okay, chapter 3 is coming guys, the leaks basically confirmed it

right?
>>
>>340857141
They should have let us replay it as snake
>>
>>340857069
Why the fuck was this the beginning and the end?

Why was MGSV such a disappointment.
>>
>>340857439

source?
>>
Why does it take you so long? it's like a 20 minute level.
>>
>>340857069
Not only was the crawling horrible. The directing was extremely painful to watch too.

I spent a year in film school. Not much, and it was free because of some charity I did for the college. But I did learn a few things.

It was full to the brim of everything we were told NOT to do in an introduction.

Kojima's writing is insultingly juvenile and moronic, it always has been. But at least the game was fun.

The biggest issue was the absolutely moronic story was so bad it made me dread doing the most fun missions in the game because I'd have to deal with more of it.

THE ONLY other game I've played, where the story is so bad it takes away from the fun and intuitive gameplay, was Star Ocean The Last Hope
>>
>>340857069
Any Serious Sam game. I love them but they start very slowly.
>>
>>340857141
>Expecting minor changes or something
>Fucking nothing aside from the order of the plastic surgery scene at the start
>This mission appears out of fucking no where with no build up at all
>>
>>340857069
fallout 2's intro hour is pretty shit
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUytlAKC9Rg

Yes.
In fact the story was so bad it ruined the gameplay, which should be impossible
>>
>>340857069
No, because the first time you played it you had no fucking idea what was going to happen once you finished the mission.

It's sad that the tutorial mission is the most unique mission in the game.
>>
>>340857764
If you never once used the internet then sure.
>>
>>340857592
Man, I hope SS4 starts out strong. I don't want to hit Gnaars with sledgehammers for half an hour, followed by shooting headless mooks with a dinky pistol for another hour.
>>
>>340857543

Can you give examples of the things that were in the intro that you were told in film school not to do?

Genuinely curious

>Rest of the game
>Muh boring open world ""freedom""

Was MGSV a satire of the current videogame landscape?

I thought the beginning of the game was the only thing that felt "Metal Gear" to me.
>>
>>340857069
Months of people saying this is great, but people hate it because there are not ask many cutscenes.
Then I get it and it starts with this shit.

>guards instantly shoot every bloody body on the ground
>Stop and think about if they should shoot the two seemingly uninjured bodies

>Tank runs into fire man, and it does nothing then explodes.
>Ambulance runs into fire man, and he is temporarily staggered
>>
>>340857543
It sounds like this is your first MGS game

>wasting a year of your life on film school
Good thing it's a video game and not subject to the rules of cinematography.
>>
>>340857543
>I spent a year in film school. Not much, and it was free because of some charity I did for the college. But I did learn a few things.

What do you think about other games that try to imitate movies after spending a year in there? Haven't gone to film school but it always felt to me like a lot of them were made by people too shitty to be a real director so they went towards video games since the standards are far lower.
>>
>>340858062
>MGSV
>Metal Gear game
It was closer to Splinter Cell Blacklist than anything else
>>
>>340857069
I haven't played MGSV but Skyward Sword was worse.
>>
>>340857427
>Was it exactly the same?
yes, it even had the fucking tutorial prompts
>What reasoning did they give for it to happen a second time?
none. up until the car chase where snake faints, it is literally the same. they just didnt have a final mission for the big reveal, so they recycled it.
>>
The first 20 hours of FF 13 is raw shit and after that it's still just as shitty

No not really.
>>
I really have no idea why media fags were saying they were mind blown by this intro scene and how it was the best ever in videogames.

It was a proper piece of shit that only helps to kill any wish I might have had of replaying the game.
>>
>>340858236
Remember it's the same faggots who think TLOU is some kind of masterpiece.
>>
Star Ocean 2 will always hold this particular title, OP. It's such a great game but fuck, that first bit up until you get to Cross is fucking torture
