DC had a lot more going on with more variety for character movesets (and more characters), but then each character only had one actual weapon type (sure, they looked different, but the animations were the same).
And all the extra stuff including enemy variety still doesn't come close to scratching the surface of something like SotN.
BS has to replicate the sheer insane depth and variety that SotN had, which is a daunting task when they don't have any resources from pre-existing games. If everything else the game has takes a bit of a hit, it's hardly surprising.
Personally, I'm reserving judgement at least until the test demo is out, which is only a few days away anyway.

Literally none of the Metroidvanias had THIS shitty slow and floaty movement. SotN was the floatiest of them all and it still was much faster and precise than this garbage. The fact he can't even replicate OoE movement says a lot about how low quality this is.
