Hearts of Stone has no relation to the main story.
Blood and Wine on the other hand does pull a little from the main story. A line here or there referencing the events of the main game, but nothing more than that. At the end of Blood and Wine though, you do get a special visitor depending on your choices in the main game.

Well the game is localized in the UK most likely. The Witchers tend to be the only ones with American accents, maybe because it's important to hear what they have to say. The standard American accent is probably the easiest accent to understand in English.

Witcher canon states there's a multiverse that some beings can travel through.
Basically Lara Dorren was born with a gene to access Power with capital P and supposedly could use it to travel through dimensions just as her female line descendants would (like Pavetta's cry in her story was her using Power). But, it wasn't as powerful, without another, activator gene passed through males. Here comes a lot of different plans including Lodge's to make her a sorceress queen, Emhyr's to have an incest kid (he was supposed to have the activator, so incest would make the kid Jesus or something) and Vilgefortz's to harvest her placenta.
But there was another plan that was made by elves - Wild Hunt. The gene didn't come from nowhere. In particular, there are some entities that pass through dimensions - the race of unicorns and Wild Hunt which enslaved most of them and took it(I don't remember the details). IIRC their dimension hopping didn't work as well as it should, so they enacted a plan to eugenic themselves a god tier leader - and there is Ciri! Which eventually culminated with kidnapping and attempting to racemix her with Auberon (almost WILDHUNTED.COM, but Auberon didn't like 3dpd and died of viagra), Ciri escaped.

The trick here is realizing that every Northern kingdom is basically Poland mixed with something else, in Redania's case it's mostly England.

I had a bug in that one actually.
I romanced Triss, got the letter and a quest said to "read the map from Yennefer" or something like that. But the letter was still read in Triss' voice.

In one of the taverns in Toussaint the Bartender has family from Vengerberg, and Geralt says something like "That's where my... uh someone very dear to me is from"
And maybe I'm remembering wrong but I'm sure Regis says something about Geralt and Yennifer, I think in the Toy shop.
is there a mod to remove oils? the wolf set was neat until you get stuck with 3 oils on your sword you don't need.

im just happy i've only played through the game+xpacs once. i haven't even touched newgame+ yet and the last time i played the base game was over a year ago before they finished adding all the free stuff like alternate outfits for some of the characters. i'm already looking forward to my 'do everything' play through this fall.
