So yeah, Town and City is a starting stage, but has ridiculous advantages for some characters, which would leave players to strike it. But we don't have stage striking so it's fair, like everyone else, to just choose Smashville. Plus, it's a fair stage for certain match ups, but your team in particular massively benefited from that stage, and it's not fair for other to not be able to choose stages that are to their advantage either.

Every first game will be at Smashville. Afterwards, the stage choice goes to the loser of the previous and the victor must choose random on the stage select (that way the loser's stage choice is secured)

Smashville and Town and City are 2 different stages. Smaller Blast Zones is one of the things. So you can't just Pick Town/City like they're the same stage.

Rules are "Always pick Smashville as starter stage"
Jarret (DK) and Spooky (Cloud) pick Town and City instead
Jarret Ding Dongs off the beneficial Town and City platforms to even easier flowchart wins, all the way to Grand Finals
Opponents finally catch on that it isn't Smashville when the platforms start appearing, so they SD after a minute or two has passed and call Jarret and Spooky out in the thread

To be fair, I'd rather have stage striking, but knowing how striking works (P1 strikes, then P2 strikes 2 then P1 strikes 1) it would be a cluster fuck to have. So if someone can get an IRC going, I'd gladly have stage striking. Plus, I did let Phil and Jesse take it over Spooky and Jarret, it's up to the players discretion what happens in case of a rule break. In my case with J, we just played it out and LUCKILY got Smashville game 3. That's the thinking, choosing stages is lucked based, so it's either stage striking or /v/ rules.

Jarret picked town and city (he didn't know it was supposed to be smashville, neither did I although I always pick smashville anyways because I like it more, every tourney I've been to has been both smashville and town and city as starters so I didn't notice anything was wrong).

Honestly I declared ourselves temporal "winners" because at first I thought you guys just ragequitted and took the loss, I was willing to play a third game but jarret left and told me we won it so I came to the thread to see what the fuck actually happened before playing GFs, just disappointed you didn't do the same but it's alright, mistakes happen. If it ever happens again I'll be the first to quit the match; I noticed it was the wrong stage immediately because the post before our match was complaining about that team doing the same thing.
