So, /v/ i just beat RE1 for the first time, playing the HD Remaster version. As fan of the franchise, i really enjoyed the game. I always wanted to play it but i don't know what held me so long.

The last time I played it was in 2008 on the Gamecube. It's my favorite game in the series and in my top 10 games of all time.
Jill is best girl and the PC HD version is in my backlog.

Unequivocably my favourite in the series. I love how the game can be unforgivingly brutal to someone who doesn't know the secrets, but just simple knowledge and planning can let you plough through the game.
And it has possibly the best atmosphere in the series. The Death Mask room and Lisa Tevor's areas/encounters were probably the most genuinely unnerving parts of any RE game.
I only hope REmake 2 can pull off the magic again.

Man, the game got me on that. The philosophy about life and death really put the game atmosphere and story all up.
About the puzzles and misteries, i was amazed how the game put you at work and on the new games you just have to kill mobs. I will miss this game if i don't replay it soon.

I really loved the examination screens. Graphically REmake was uttterly mindblowing for it's time, so looking at those weapons in the viewer was pure gun porn. I'm sure some /k/omrade will tell me otherwise, but whatever.

I opened the game once last year, but i didn't know what i had to do with the first zombie. It killed me and i got "wtf" and quit. I'm glad and happy i gave the game a second chance and started to play for real.

They did what they could. Yes, some of the backgrounds are lower quality than i'd like (since they lost a ton of the source files) but that's the only issue you can take with it.
